Dr. Sommer is a leading international educationalist. In the last 20 years, he has held two headships and taught in schools in France, The Netherlands and the UK.
Since 2009, Dr. Sommer has been the Principal of a leading school in Paris. During his time at the school, he has improved academic standards, opened a new Junior school and led the introduction of technology into the classroom.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Sommer led a premium school in The Netherlands where he substantially modernised the curriculum and improved student achievement. Before the move to The Netherlands, he was at Rugby School, a leading boarding school, and Sutton Valence School in the UK. He held a number of leadership roles as well as being a teacher of modern languages.
Dr. Sommer was educated in Germany and Russia before commencing doctoral studies in linguistics. He is a talented linguist and is a fluent speaker of French, German, Spanish, Russian and English, as well as being well versed in Dutch, Greek and Mandarin. He is a qualified schools inspector and holds leadership roles in two international education confederations.
Dr. Sommer will commence his role at the start of the new academic year where he will continue the progress that the team at Collège Champittet have made in academic performance and further enhance the school’s reputation as one of Switzerland’s leading schools.
