John Kay

John Kay

Chemistry Teacher

John joined La Côte International School in 2017 as a Chemistry Teacher. He graduated from The University of Sheffield with an honours degree in Biochemistry and pursued his passion for education by completing a PGCE in the UK.

Before moving to Switzerland, John taught for three years at Thomas Hardye School in Dorset, one of the highest achieving UK state schools, where he became Head of IB Chemistry. Seeking experience in more IB schools, John also taught at King George V school and ESF school in Hong Kong for 4 years. There he became an IB examiner and continues to mark IB DP Chemistry papers.

After a year setting up his own ski business in Japan, John returned to education moving to Switzerland. John brings a dynamic enthusiasm for Science and the outdoors, combining his strong ICT skills to educate in an engaging manner.
When John isn’t educating he can be found outside hanging off cliffs climbing, in the air paragliding, on the slopes snowboarding or on the water sailing.
