Saturday, 8th November students from 8 international schools participated in the DVAC football tournament in Malinovo, Bratislava and the Middle School boys football team traveled to American International School of Budapest.

Middle School boys football

On Saturday November the 8th, the Middle School boys football team traveled to American International School of Budapest. The team consisted of Ben Cox, Kevin Guo, Helwan Felappi, Daniel Castela, David Pham, Jacob Wilcox, Alan Li, Jules Smekens, Igor Ledecky, Oleg, Kozinets, Richard Balheim, Leon Zeleny, Jee Soo Byoun and Alex Grygoryshyn.

The boys powered through a tough match schedule having to play the last 3 matches back to back. They had some very close games, suffering a heartbreakers in the 1st and 2nd match losing 1-2 and 2-3. In the third match or key defender Daniel Castela suffered a minor injury and had to be temporarily removed from the game, unfortunately in his 5 minute absence we conceded two goals causing us to loose the match 5-2. In our final match our boys were determined to finish off the tourney with a win. They fought hard and played their best football resulting in a score of 1-1. Our scoring leader for the Tourney was Igor Ledecky scoring 4 goals. Other contributors were Jules Smekens and Ben Cox both scoring 1 goal respectively. Jacob Wilcox also showed some impressive goal tending skills making key saves through out the tourney including a penalty shot save. The tournament had 5 teams and the eventual winners were the hosts the American International school of Budapest.

DVAC football tournament in Malinovo

Arthur Lienard, Rich Guo, Holden Thatcher Scharpf, Artem Lvovich, Ilya Kalinin, Jan Kasper, Kenny Lee, Jonas Scholl, Vladimir Lexa, Andrii Grygoryshyn, Nikita Chepinoga represented BISB.

The schools were placed into two leagues and our league consisted of ICSB, DIS and ICSV. Our first game ICSB, second DIS and finally ICSV.

With 2 wins BISB secured their place in the final against their bratislava neighbors.

The boys were excellent and very committed all day, thank you for all your efforts.  The tournament was organized by Mr Cook and BISB received great feedback from teachers, supporters and players.
