On 14th May we travelled to the Palestinian Embassy to meet with Mr Ghannam to learn about the Palestinian perspective on the conflicts. Students listened to a detailed and interesting talk by Mr Ghannam, followed by a question and answer session. They also had the opportunity to meet with the Ambassador, Dr Abdalrahman Bsaiso. We would like to thank the Embassy, Dr Bsaiso and Mr Ghannam for welcoming us and providing us with this unique opportunity.
Following on from this on Wednesday 27th May, the Israeli Ambassador, H. E. Alexander Ben-Zvi visited BISB to meet with students. Again, following a very interesting and informative presentation, students were given the opportunity to ask questions of the Ambassador about both past conflicts and contemporary issues. We would like to extend our thanks to Ambassador Ben-Zvi for taking the time to visit and availing himself to our students.
The IB Diploma History course covers a wide range of 20th Century topics. Having opportunities to meet with such authoritative individuals, and to discuss issues, is crucial in helping students to develop their critical thinking skills. We are very grateful to have had these experiences.
