Performing 'Shakespeare's Stars' at the British Ambassador's Residence

Performing for the British Ambassdor, Mr Andy Garth, was a very exciting opportunity for us and I am sure we were all glad that we could be a part of the 'Shakespeare’s Stars' performance.

We had to work hard, rehearsing the scenes one by one after school and memorising very difficult language, but I believe it was definitely worth it. Reuniting with the school from Poprad was another bright highlight of the event. We made new friends and met up with old.

On the day of the big show we were panicking but the Ambassador and his partner, Angela Smith, welcomed us warm-heartedly. Everyone helped. We worked on sorting out the lighting and stage positions, and of course, we had our last rehearsals while enjoying refreshments along with pizza!  At the end of the day, I must say, the teachers had a LOT of patience since everyone was starting to be tired and we were glad to go home, however the performance turned out to be great and the Ambassador said he was speechless!

Overall, 'Shakespeare Stars' was a huge success and I would definitely like to repeate a similar event with Gymnazium Kukucinova next year.

The Shakespeare play ‘Macbeth’ and ‘The Tempest’ contained dramatic and stellar performances by BISB students.  Poprad and the English International School took a part in combination with our school which made it quite different to what we have watched in the past, however it fulfilled everyone’s expectations. Introductions and comments by Juraj and Amy were nicely spoken with clear delivery, parts performed by Slovak teachers were very professionally done and the wonderful rendition of music tracks by Poprad students added a finer atmosphere which made the whole event very enjoyable.
