BISB Computer Science Week 5th – 11th December

Last week we celebrated our first ever full CSW @ BISB and it was awesome! All workshops and presentations were created by our talented IT students who are interested in IT either through their participation in after school Enrichment clubs or through the brand new Student Computing Committee.

Programming was the largest area of Computing represented with students contributing technology displays using Makey Makey, Arduino, LEGO Mind Storms for older children as well as Beebots, Probots and LEGO Movers for younger children. We even had a robot versus student race and the student won by a small margin of speed however the robot was much more accurate at driving around the course!

The highlights of the week were the Lemon Battery which produced a small charge and powered a calculator, the Banana Keyboard for playing the piano with, the Musical Stairs that played different drum sounds when you walked up and down as well as the complicated circuit soldering demonstration.

Thank you so much to all the talented student contributors and to all the students who participated to make this event a success.
