The intrepid Year 4 set off from BISB on the number 4 tram, which was an adventure in its own right! The children in Year 4 showed amazing manners and they received many smiles and many a thank you from members of the public. Upon arriving at our destination, the children reminisced about previous visits and were happy to be back at the gallery.
The children were in two groups and completed two activities: a tour which included a lesson about shadows and perspective, and an art activity that gave the children an insight into how people see one scene or object in different ways, again learning that art is all about perspective. The children saw many interesting exhibits at the Slovak National Gallery (SNG) and there were lots of exclamations about paintings, pictures and sculptures contained within the gallery. The children enjoyed the art activity and the staff at the gallery were informative, patient and kind with the children. Year 4 are now looking at the work of Salvador Dali whose visual images stand within the genre of surrealism. We will be producing our own works of art and a biography about the Artist Salvador Dali. Alongside this, we will look at signs and symbols in the school environment and discuss their purpose.
