Making a splash - or not!

As part of our Olympics topic, on Wednesday, Year 3 welcomed Veronika Strapekova a former Slovak national synchronized swimmer who competed at world level including the Olympics in Athens 2004. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about the dedication, perseverance and training that is needed to compete at such a high level.

Miss Katka, our PE teacher, also competed with Veronika in paired synchronized swimming.

"It was a great experience meeting an Olympian and I am amazed by the talent and how they can stay in the water, hold their breath, move and all without touching the bottom," said Maya.

"It must be really hard to jump over other people in the water," responded Masha.

"I was so surprised that she can jump out of the water without touching the bottom of the pool," exclaimed Juraj.
