Year 9 Trip to Krakow

Year 9 History students enjoyed a 4 day trip to beautiful Krakow last week.  Staying just a few minutes walk from the heart of the Old Town and the historic Jewish Quarter enabled us to get out on foot and explore.

We enjoyed a walking tour taking in sites associated with the movie Schindler’s List and also visited the former factory of Oscar Schindler to learn more about his actions in saving 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust and Krakow’s war time experience.
A full day was spent on a guided educational tour of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz-Birkenau where students were able to gain a deeper insight and understanding of this traumatic period of history. We were also able to tour the Wieliczka Salt mine and learn something of its incredible past and importance in Polish history.
