Global Campus Showcase

On Wednesday 15th February we were delighted to host our first Global Campus Showcase event. During the course of the evening parents and invited guests had the opportunity to view our students' work from many of the different events and competitions which have taken place in the last academic year. Our two winning debate teams were on hand to discuss how they had been able to win through 3 tough rounds of competitions to reach their respective finals and, ultimately, be crowned Debate League Champions. There was a lovely exhibition of art work from students who were winners in the 2015-16 Visual Arts competition and a display of books from our Global Campus Library. Students were also on hand to discuss how they are preparing for this year's Global Challenge and the student selection process for the visit to the UN in July this year.

The evening concluded with an hour long event in our new theater where students who achieved success in the Visual Arts and Creative Writing competitions were presented with copies of the Anthology. Certificates were also given to our Debaters and our 3 highly commended Photography competition winners.

Student presentations were also part of the evening with a powerful speeches by IB students Arthur Lienard and Mieke Stockfish on their Tanzania Expedition and then Tom Keys and Martin Nicholson on the Switzerland mountain leadership course. Toby Marriott gave a beautiful recitation of his prize winning poem and Anna Sherman impressed with her Shakespeare performance from last years Global Campus competition. Performances came from Paula Horvathova on piano and visiting Juilliard alumnus John Marcus who, earlier in the day had given a wonderful Strings Masterclass to students too.

Our collaboration with world leading performing arts school Juilliard was reflected further with a talk by Year 7 student Ales Junek who told us about his experience at the Juilliard Summer Performing Arts School in Switzerland last year. If you would like details of this year's Performing Arts School please get in touch as places are limited! Ms Howarth, our head of whole school music, led our Choirs in performance related to the amazing Global Campus Virtual Choir project, in which all of our 43 Nord Anglia Education schools are participating. We can't wait to share the final, incredible performance with you soon.

Our partnership with Juilliard will see us introducing unique and innovative Dance and Drama curricula to our school too. Given the wonderful Mask performance given towards the end of the evening, and reflecting on how much our students enjoyed participating in Shrek last week, we know this too will be well received.

If you would like any further information on how your child can participate in any of the many opportunities presented by the Global Campus, or our Juilliard collaboration, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
