Meeting with Mr Miroslav Lajcak, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic

Following our assembly this morning with Dr. Mlynar, a small group of students travelled to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs to meet with Mr. Miroslav Lajcak. Mr. Lajcak is currently Slovakia’s Foreign Minister. Last month he was elected to the position of President of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Our students were quite nervous on arrival at the Ministry, but Mr. Lajcak swiftly put them at ease, spending over 40 minutes answering their questions about his career and the work of the United Nations.  Two of our students, Zuzana and Arthur, will themselves travel to the United Nations next month as part of our Nord Anglia Education Global Campus event, in partnership UNICEF. There they will present to the High Level Political Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals. Zuzana described herself afterwards as “overwhelmed in a good way” from their meeting.  As Arthur said, “today we have had the chance to meet two of the most important people in the country. It’s just amazing and inspiring.”

We would like to extend our thanks to Mr. Lajcak for extending the invitation to meet with him. It was an experience that will stay with our students for life.
