IB2 History

Year 13 IB students were able to enhance their understanding of life in the former Czechoslovak Socialist Republic this week, as our Biology teacher Ms. Pallova kindly agreed to speak with them, sharing her experiences of growing up here during the 1970s and 1980s.

  • IB History

Her first-hand account of community life, the education system and society in general helped them deepen their understanding of the persuasive and coercive ways in which the state controlled the population. We are always happy to welcome interesting speakers to our lessons to help students develop their understanding. If you feel that you could be our next speaker please get in touch, particularly if you can share your experiences of life in the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War or the collapse of the Iron Curtain. Our thanks are extended to Ms. Pallova for sharing both her time and her experiences with us.
