When You Arrive

It can be overwhelming to relocate to a new country where you don’t speak the language, where the culture is completely different than yours, where you have no friends or relatives. There are however different websites or guide books that can be of use. You can obtain a lot of information with your home country embassy as well.

Let us mention two Bratislava guide books on the market designed for new arrivals. Easy Bratislava is a practical guide to settling and living in Bratislava. It may be a little outdated with its publishing year in 2006 but it covers virtually anything you may need to know. The other publication, Life In Slovakia, is more recent and also more comprehensive. There are a number of helpful websites that may assist you in finding the resources you need:

1.    Green pages - online business directory by The Slovak Spectator newspaper

2.    Online guide for expatriates by Move One, relocation company

3.    The Bratislava Guide –  useful and practical information

These are just to name a few. Also, try to learn some basic Slovak. It will certainly make day-to-day errand and activities much simpler.
