Year 5A Class Teacher

I completed my English Literature and History undergraduate degree at university in Sheffield before moving to Cambridge to undertake my PGCE at Cambridge University. I have since then been teaching in Cambridgeshire for 5 years. I have taught KS1 and KS2 and have thoroughly enjoyed both. I have had leadership responsibility as both a year group leader and as an English subject leader, in which roles I have worked supportively and collaboratively with colleagues to develop an engaging, effective curriculum.

Whilst teaching in the UK, my love of children’s literature has only grown and grown – in fact my book collection has got a little out of hand! I love sharing old favourites and new literary finds with my classes and I always have my current read perched on a corner of my desk. At my current school, I have set up book clubs and reading groups for children, parents and staff. I look forward to finding some fellow bookworms at BISB!

When I’m not reading, I like to be active. In the winter I am a capable skier and a not-so-capable snowboarder. In the summer I enjoy running, cycling and horse riding whenever I can!

I have always been a keen traveller, often setting off solo to explore new places in the school holidays. I love the culture and history of cities but equally enjoy exploring nature and the great outdoors so I am very excited to explore the city of Bratislava and the countryside of Slovakia!
