After graduation at the University I took the opportunity to work as a ‘Musician in residence ‘at Orwell Park School in the UK – near Ipswich. Whilst at Orwell Park, I gave regular recitals to the children which formed an important part of their musical education. In addition to this, I supported music classes and taught piano lessons, preparing students for examinations and concerts.
Originally, I am Slovak, but I lived for 12 years in the Czech Republic. Having returned to Slovakia, I was delighted to find a Music teaching position here at The British International School. Since 2006, I have been a Music Specialist at BISB and over the years I have taught children across the whole age range of the school [4-18], including the school orchestra and IGCSE. Currently, I am the IB Music coordinator and teacher, responsible for teaching, live performances and recordings. In addition to this I am the Primary Music Specialist, organising Primary concerts, leading the Primary choirs, musicals, and other musical events.
I spend most of my time with children. At home, I have four children, and in my music classes I meet many children on a daily basis. I like the children’s world which is very straight and honest. Having my own children helps me to see how important it is to support children to create something – musical or otherwise – in our century full of IT facilities.
In my free time, my family and I usually go cycling, swimming, walking in the forest or skiing.
