Paul has been in education all of his working life and joins BISB after spending six years as Secondary Headteacher at the Bishop Mackenzie International School in Malawi. Prior to this he has held other leadership positions around the world, making a deliberate decision to work in IB World Schools from early on in his career. Paul is an enthusiastic Chemist, with almost 20 years’ experience as an IB Diploma examiner. He still gets a buzz from seeing the spark light up behind a student’s eyes when they “get it”, and encourages them to set their personal goals by “beginning with the end in mind”. He says that one of the factors influencing his decision to come to BISB was the warm friendly welcome he received from everyone when he visited the school early in 2016, a sign of the trust and co-operation that exists within the school community.
After school, Paul devotes his time to his family. He enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children. They are a multicultural family, with two of them born in England and the other two born in Kazakhstan. Activities can include computer coding with his son, reading fairy stories with his daughter, and sharing cooking duties with his wife. Together they like nothing better than to put on their walking boots and enjoy a good walk in the country.
