Teacher showcase: Marlène Adamah

"It is not the light that misses our gaze, it is our look that lacks light," Gustave Thibon

My name is Marlène Adamah and I am a German teacher at Collège Champittet in Nyon since August 2016. I am from Benin and spent part of my life in Germany where I studied German and Applied Linguistics and worked as an interpreter and teacher, before joining my husband 4 years ago in Switzerland.

I teach German to 4th, 5th and 6th grade pupils and I organise a German workshop for younger students. I define myself as a very relational person, rigorous in her work but who also knows how to adapt to unforeseen situations.

I like the professional environment that Champittet offers me: the informal atmosphere amongst administration, teachers and other employees facilitates exchanges on all levels and at all times. This allowed me to acclimatise quickly and to feel comfortable at work. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Anne Ochsenbein for her role as a mentor. In addition to travelling, cooking, reading and dancing, I sing in the animation team of the Catholic Chapel of Gland and in the gospel choir Accroch'chœur de La Lignière.
