Olympism at the Collège Champittet

  • Livre sur l’olympisme et le sport à Champittet

The winter Youth Olympic Games will be held in Lausanne in 2020. The International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Museum are located only a few minutes from Collège Champittet. Sport plays an important role in the lives of Champittet private school students.

Considering all of this, how can we not take advantage of an incredible opportunity to raise awareness of olympism and its values among Champittet students? Champittet does not only provide an academic education, but also teaches values for everyday life:

“When the Olympic Movement brings out the joy of effort, we acknowledge commitment…

When it pushes to strive for excellence, we encourage ambition…

When it supports fair play, we ensure responsibility and adaptability…

When it promotes peace, we teach respect…

When it develops team spirit, we value a sense of community and collaboration…

When it supports a balance between body and mind, we foster creativity and thought…”

Taking into account the amount of values that the Olympic Movement and Collège Champittet share, the students have decided to create a book. This collection of texts and drawings made by the students during the 2015/2016 academic year is an example of how the Olympic values are integrated into art and French classes. It combines several artistic and literary works of the Collège Champittet students about sports and olympism.

The book is available for 25 CHF. All of the profits will be donated to the Collège Champittet Foundation. Please contact Mrs. Petit, the French teacher in charge of the project, to receive a copy at anastasia.petit@champittet.ch.
