Our Senior boys Basketball team won Bronze this weekend at a tournament in Phuket. Here is the Match report provided by Mr Merriott.

The senior boys took part in their first tournament of the year in Phuket from the 4th-5th November. The tournament included 5 international schools from around Asia and one local Thai School replacing a late withdrawal from Penang.

The boys started well with a comfortable win over Park City International School Kuala Lumpar, winning 37 -21, before taking on hosts British International School Phuket. After a slow start the boys found their rhythm and shot the ball well from the perimeter and continued winning ways with a 43-15 point victory. The final game of day one was against The International School of Myanmar. The game was a scrappy affair and tiredness was setting in but the boys ran out eventual winners 23-12.

After a restful evening, the boys knew they had 2 tough games in the morning; winning 1 game would mean they were in the final.
Up first was a very strong American School of Bangkok, who like us were undefeated from day 1. Despite our best efforts we unfortunately lost 33-5.
Next was Phuket Wittayalai: another Team playing very well this tournament; having only lost to ASB. Regents were playing some incredible offensive plays and with some fantastic defending by Connor. Despite their best efforts the boys could not secure the win they needed and narrowly lost to 29-25.

3rd/4th Final: the boys rose to the challenge and played some very good basketball. Again Rubén controlled the offensive plays which allowed us to dominate the game. With an all-round great team performance, the boys won the Bronze medal with a 28-25 win. Congratulations to the boys team for their hard work and efforts against very strong teams.

All in all it was a fantastic tournament and great preparation for the senior games for all our players.

Thanks also to our coaches and parents for supporting and preparing the team.
