Working together

Our Principal, Mr Patrick Horne, reflects on the past week and achievements so far this term.

We have had a fantastic term so far at the British International School Shanghai, Pudong. I have felt so many proud moments from the contributions and achievements of our community. From high academic awards to outstanding musical performances to our inspirational International Day, being part of this school is truly special.

The end of this term is always a time for celebration and I know many people will already be sewing sequins on costumes for the numerous Christmas productions! It is the hard work and effort from all of us which makes these events a success and I look forward to the next few weeks and ending the term on a real high.

One group of students, teachers and parents who have put in tremendous effort over the past months is that which is involved with our school production, “Best of Broadway”. The hours of dedication on evenings and weekends is amazing and it is this which leads to wonderful student achievement and great public performances. “Best of Broadway” takes place next Thursday and Friday, 28th and 29th November. Please make sure you purchase tickets early. These are available from the Middle School Office in Building C.

We also have had a number of events this term focused on helping parents support their children’s learning at home. In addition to the regular Academic Review Evenings we have also had the presentation from Professor Deborah Eyre last week, and in addition held specific evenings for Infants and Junior School. Your support for these events is really appreciated and helps cement the home-school partnership which we all know is so vital. With regard to this may I remind you of our Hear & Share session on Tuesday 26th November at 7pm. We will be focusing on High Performance Learning and My Learning and how parents can support in these crucial areas which help the students achieve so highly.

Once again thank you to everyone who is working hard towards all the events to round off our term. We look forward to some very special occasions.
