Careers Questions Answered Here

Thanks to all who attended the Careers and University Fair in our Performing Arts Centre last Friday. Mrs Nicola Dinsdale, the school’s Higher Education Adviser did a super job of attracting our business and professional representatives with the help of a very willing and able parent, Mrs Theresa Romans-Woerpel.

The students had an enlightening talk with the Shanghai Disney Resort, meeting their Casting Director and Head of Merchandising/Product Development as well as Philip Wang from HR. Top universities from the UK included University College London, Queen Mary, The Institute of Education, and Goldsmiths from the University of London as well as Nottingham University. From Canada we were pleased to welcome the University of British Columbia and Queen's University. The University of Hong Kong and the Sino British College from Shanghai were well represented as were Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School and the University of Technology from Sydney, Australia.  Les Roches International School of Hotel management and the Glion Institute also joined from Switzerland. Finally, from the US we met Brown's University, Kendall College - Chicago, Savannah College of Art & Design and Experience America Summer Schools.

The event was a huge success with a high attendance from students and their parents from Year 9 through to Year 13.  Particularly useful for Year 9s  thinking about IGCSE options, Year 10s getting ready for work experience, Year 11s choosing their IB subjects, Year 12s planning their university and career ideas and the Year 13s moving ever closer to the reality of life in higher education and beyond.

This really was a fantastic opportunity for all to become better informed about  future opportunities and gain greater understanding on how to get there.
