At the start of this year we moved to a new school structure designed to better support teachers and students. I will be writing in more detail after the break to update you fully on the progress of the school, but I do want to take this opportunity to share with you some particular academic successes.
Students across the school work hard all year with their studies. For Year 11 and 13 students though, this means aiming towards their IGCSE and IB examinations which can make such a difference to their future. They are of course supported by their teachers and their families, but the success is theirs.
We have been looking at the most recent set of forecast grades and can report that our Year 11 and Year 13 students are on course to achieve some outstanding results.
- At IGCSE level approximately half of all grades are forecast to reach a grade A or A* which is significantly beyond the outcomes of the vast majority of schools in the UK.
- At IB, the Average Points Score for BISS Pudong is forecast to be around 34-35 points, a score a long way ahead of the worldwide average of 29 points. A quarter of our Year 13 students are forecast over 40 points with a number of students aiming at 43 points or higher. Bearing in mind only about 100 students across the world each year achieve 45 points, these are a phenomenal set of scores.
All in all, these forecasts indicate that our students are on target to achieve the best results in the school’s history. I know I speak on behalf of all my colleagues in saying congratulations to them for all their work so far and in promising to continue to do everything we can to help them reach their best possible grades in these final months. These students should be extremely proud of their achievements so far, and also the legacy they can leave for others to follow and build upon in the future.
On such a pleasing note, I wish all members of our community a relaxing break. We look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday April 7th.
