The development of skills and attributes beyond the formal classroom environment is absolutely essential in today’s world. In the week of the school’s Art Exhibition I would like to highlight the particular contribution made by our Creative Arts team.
The Art Exhibition showed off the amazing pieces of work that our Year 13 IB Art students are submitting for their final examination. This is the culmination of two year’s work and the results are absolutely breathtaking. The quality of many of the pieces would grace an Art Gallery. Indeed, many of the items were for sale and a number of people have bid for them, hoping to display this art in their own homes. It is a true testament to the hard work of the students and their teachers that the outcome is pieces of art of such amazing quality.
Design Technology sits alongside Art in developing the creativity and design process. Once again our students in all years have done some exceptional work and the senior students are on course for outstanding examination results. Beyond actual results though, we see the real talent from students in their thinking, their planning, their creativity and their perseverance. These skills last a life time.
Performing Arts also lies within our Creative Arts Faculty and I am sure anyone who has attended any of our shows or concerts in recent years will be fully aware of the amazing performances our students are able to produce. It is such a privilege to see these productions within the surroundings of a school, and frequently the standard is so high that the actors and musicians could surely grace a professional stage.
We see students every year who absolutely thrive in an artistic environment. Their commitment, plus the dedication of their teachers, is a joy to see in the development of talent and the pursuit of passions. We are tremendously proud of the achievement of students of all ages in this area, and it is also so wonderful to observe the hugely positive impact this has on their personal and social development.
