Summer Festival Favourites

The BISS Pudong spirit was on full display as families from Early Years all the way through to Senior School made the most of the warm summer weather for our last big social gathering of the year. The gates opened at 3pm and families continued to pour in throughout the day, with thousands enjoying the atmosphere of our first ever afternoon/evening festival.

Entirely transformed for the day, the school was a hive of fun and action. From the water play area with its very popular Sponge the Teacher activity, to the exciting new Laser Tag range, the guess the number in the bottles to the bouncy castles and climbing wall, children both big and small found plenty to keep them occupied. In fact, there was so much to see and do that it was a challenge to fit it all in one day!

A great big thank you goes to all the students, parents and visitors who provided the non-stop entertainment on both stage and field. Our BISS Tigers cheerleaders were a big hit on the grass, while our very talented students, dads and teachers kept the crowd entertained through the afternoon and into the evening with dance, Taekwondo, yoga, rock and jazz band performances as well as choir.

Always colourful and with the best sound-track around, our Latin Mamas served up their delicious paella and other Latin favourites, keeping the crowds satisfied with the help of the many other restaurant vendors who provided the much-needed refueling pit-stops for hungry festival-goers. The wine and beer tent was a hit with our dads and mums, giving them a chance to relax with friends while enjoying the entertainment on the main stage.

The shopping marketplace proved a real draw, with lots of bargains to be found at the books and toys stall, as well as good advice and information from local service providers. Our teachers and parent volunteers ensured each of the craft and activities stalls ran like clockwork, challenging students with activities like bowling and Guess the Teacher.

With amazing prizes such as rewards points from Intercontintal Hotels Group, a weekend at Naked Retreats, and a barbeque for 50, just to name a few, there was plenty of anticipation as the raffles were drawn on main stage. Congratulations to the winners, thanks to our generous sponsors and everyone who purchased tickets to help our charity fundraising.

It was wonderful to see such a happy crowd gathered, with students lying on the grass, for the grand finale fireworks. The glow of the fireworks illuminated a sea of happy faces as the pyrotechnic display lit up the night, heralding the end of a hugely successful Summer Festival 2014.
