The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is two years of study which culminates in examinations usually near the end of Year 11, with some students in younger grades able to take fast-track or early entry courses as well.
Introducing the assembly, Head of Secondary, Mrs Dinah Hawtree commended the students on what has been a truly excellent set of results; praising their dedication and commitment to their studies as well as noting the support of teachers and family.
Overall, our students achieved truly stellar results, with a cohort of 8 student achieving 10 or more A*-A grades and 90% of students achieving A*-C grades, compared with just 67% in the UK.
With an audience of their fellow students and many proud parents, the students received their certificates from Mrs Wallace and Mrs Hawtree.
Special congratulations went to Anna Lamieri who achieved a perfect score of 10 A* grades. Anna addressed the audience to speak about her journey towards this excellent result, thanking her teachers for "preparing and pushing me to be my very best". She also had some good advice for the students in the audience still to sit their IGCSEs: "You need to have your backside in a chair, nose in a book and a pen in your hand...and try to love your notes!"
Aurora Arena also received congratulations for achieving Best in China for Foreign Language Italian.
