English

In English next week we are going to continue using our text “Grandpa’s Teeth” and will become reporters for the week. We will be looking at the difference between direct and reported speech and how this looks different in the written form. We will be exploring the uses of verbs in speech and how this can have an impact on the reader. During our Guided Reading sessions we will be focusing on when we see speech in a text and how we need to change our tone and intonation as a result of this. We will also be recapping our skills of using embedded clauses, fronted adverbials and conjunctions to add descriptive detail to our newspaper reports.

Maths

During our Maths lessons we will begin the week by recapping our knowledge of ordering and comparing numbers up to 10,000. From here we will spend the week looking at the multiples of 6,7,9,25 and 1000. We will practice being able to automatically recall these multiples. From this we will then look at being able to apply this knowledge to problem solving activities. These will be both practical and word problem based.

Topic

Next week will be our final week looking at our topic “How Humans Work”. We will begin the week by looking at pulse rates. We will undertake some fitness tests and measure our pulse rates. Throughout the pulse rates experiment we will be conducting a scientific report. We will write a hypothesis, method, record our results in graphs and finish by writing a conclusion. From here we will move onto healthy eating. We will explore what a balanced diet is and how eating the right things can have a positive impact on our health while eating the wrong things can have a negative impact.
