English

In English this week we will complete our work on Newspaper reports. We will be innovating the story of Grandpa’s teeth and using all the skills we have covered so far in this topic to write a final Newspaper report. We will spend Monday focussing on recapping our grammar skills and planning out our newspaper report. On Tuesday we will spend our lesson constructing and editing our newspaper report. Towards the end of the week we will be looking at our trip to the chocolate factory and writing  about our day there. We will look at linking and sequencing of writing and how to successfully paragraph with appropriate linking vocabulary.

Maths

In Maths this week we will be looking at decimals. This is a new topic covered for the first time in Year 4. We will be looking at being able to order and compare decimals with up to 2 decimal places. From here we will look back at our learning on being able to round numbers and apply this to decimals. Towards the end of the week and into the following week we will be looking at being able to apply our knowledge and skills of decimals numbers to solving word problems.

Topic

This will be our final week of looking at How Humans work. On Monday we will have our exit point for this topic. We will be inviting pupils from Y3 into our classrooms to have their eyes tested. We will take them through the whole process of going to an opticians and try out the eye tests that we devised earlier on in the topic. On Wednesday we have our entry point to our new topic “Chocolate”. We will enter the topic with an exciting trip to Zotter’s Chocolate factory. Towards the end of the week we will begin our knowledge harvest and share our ideas about what we would like to learn throughout the upcoming weeks. We will end the week by looking at where chocolate originates from.
