Dear Parents,

Christmas is often a time where we focus our attention upon our younger children, as it is such a magical and wonderful time of year for them. In the Early Years and Primary we have certainly made the most of the season, with our end of term assembly today drawing all of our events to a close.

Earlier in the week, our Infant students performed their spectacular show ‘Lights, Camel, Action!’ which was a dazzling performance, not only of songs and storytelling, but also disco dancing, the tango and ballet. The Year 1 and Year 2 students shed a slightly different light on the traditional Christmas story and turned it into a very entertaining and toe-tapping extravaganza, complete with snowfall at the very end. A big thank you to our Infant team for all of their hard work putting the show together at such a busy time of year.

This week in Primary has also seen a Christmas themed STEAM day in which students took part in a variety of activities including making the tallest Christmas tree; a sleigh for Santa and a Lego marble maze. Each activity required collaboration, creativity and problem solving – and of course a lot of house points!

Thursday saw our end of term parties and our students enjoyed some traditional party games as well as Christmas Karaoke and Secret Santa. A big thank you to all of our parents who contributed party food for the students and who came along to enjoy the fun.

Finally, today we enjoyed our last assembly of the term which was a very busy one celebrating all of the achievements our students have made this term. We awarded the House Cup to De house for the most house points of the term; we celebrated the success of our swimming and football teams; we congratulated winners and runners up of the Christmas Card competition and the Global Campus Creative Writing Competition, and of course our Stars of the Week. We also thanked our Student Leaders across the Primary school for all of their hard work and ideas this term. We even had a surprise visit from Santa at our assembly!

We also said ‘Goodbye’ and ‘Good luck’ to two members of our team. Mrs Schopp will be leaving us today and moving on to a new country and a new adventure with her husband. We would like to thank her for her dedication and hard work during the time she has been at NAIS and wish her the best of luck for the future. Mrs Finan will be returning to school in the new year.

Ms. Preston also finishes, temporarily, today as she embarks on motherhood and the arrival of her baby in the very near future. We wish Ms. Preston and her husband the very best of luck over the months to come with their new arrival.

In closing, I would like to wish all of our parent community a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays and hope you all have the opportunity to spend the next few weeks with your family and loved ones. Thank you for all of your support over the last term. We look forward to seeing you back at school in January, and for our families moving on to new countries and new schools, we wish you the very best for the future – we hope you look back at your time at NAIS with fond memories.

With best wishes,

Lisa Passante

Head of Primary
