Terrific Teeth

Year 4 classes had a special visit from a Pediatric Dentist from Shanghai United Family Hospital on Friday 19th February.  Dr. Rana gave a special presentation which was in line with what the Year 4 classes had been learning about in their topic of How Humans Work.

Some of the things that Dr. Rana talked about were the purpose of teeth, knowing the different types of teeth and their function.  She also talked about how cavities form and what we can do to prevent this.

After this, Dr. Rana talked to the children about how to care for their teeth.  This involved showing them on a model of the teeth how to brush their teeth and also the importance of flossing.  Emphasis was also placed on the foods which are good for the health of their teeth and which, when eaten too often, are bad for their teeth.

Overall, the children thoroughly enjoyed the presentation that was given by Dr. Rana.  They learned lots of new things and hopefully will be cavity free!
