Year 4 Cooking up a Storm!

The Year 4 classes have started their new IPC topic called “What’s on the Menu?” This unit focuses on where the food on our daily dinner plates comes from.

As part of this topic, students will have the opportunity to find out how food is produced, distributed, sold and cooked worldwide. There is also a lot of opportunity for children to get involved in cooking.

As an entry point, to build excitement on this unit, Year 4s looked at measurement in Maths and how recipes are written in English, and this culminated in their making pancakes from a simple recipe. The delicious smells of butter pancakes flowed through the corridors as students mixed their batter, cooked their pancakes and added their favourite toppings!
