Year 4 and 5 Residential Trips

It has been a perfect start to this year’s residential trips for Year 5 and Year 4, with the students enjoying great weather and fun and challenging activities. Year 5 students are at Lohas Island for the 4-night residential, while the Year 4s have travelled to Oriental Land.

Here are their Day 1 updates:

Year 5 - Lohas Island

What a fantastic start to our residential! We arrived safely at Lohas Island at around 10.30am. All the children were really happy with their rooms and settled in quickly. Everyone has been very responsible when getting ready for their activities.

Before lunch, we made team flags, names and chants. Our six teams for the week are: Red Foxes, Yellow Tigers, Green Frogs, Brown Bears, Blue Sharks and Black Cats.

The sun shone all day which was great for our team building activities. We competed in the bouncing drum challenge where each group had to work together pulling strings to bounce a tennis ball on a huge drum using balance and cooperation.

Then they took on the three legged race - with a twist! In some cases children had to race as a twelve to cross the finish line against an opposing team.

Finally, we completed the gutter ball roll which took perseverance and collaboration.

We’ve just had dinner where the children sampled lots of new dishes. We are ending the day with a movie before bed.

Year 4 – Oriental Land

What a great first day. We have been busy doing activities all day and the children have been great.

The weather has been brilliant, especially following last night’s storm. The wind even picked up for the kite flying. All the children have done well, they are all happy and in fine spirits.

We have just made sure they are settled in their rooms and most look ready for a good night’s sleep. We have dragon boat racing, biking and assault courses planned for tomorrow. Night night!
