English

Next week in English, we will be working on speaking and performing skills. The children will be putting into practise all the work they have done this year on voice projection, speaking with expression and using body language as they prepare for their performances in ‘Horrible Histories’ next Wednesday and Thursday. As well as this, we will be working on consolidating some of the Year 3 grammar objectives the children have covered this year. These will include revising rules for punctuation, use of conjunctions, spelling rules and handwriting.

Maths

In Maths next week, we begin our last unit on geometric reasoning. The children will revise properties of shapes and learn that angles are properties of shapes. They will use this knowledge to identify and describe turns. They will also learn how to measure the perimeter of regular and compound shapes.

Topic

Next week in topic, the children will learn what a volcano is made of. They will identify the different types of rock and learn about the different states of volcanoes. They will watch what happens during a volcanic eruption and use stop motion animation to show their understanding of what happens when a volcano erupts. Finally, they will make their own model volcanoes and use baking soda to create their own explosions!

In Computing, the children will learn how computers work in a network and how data is shared across networks.
