Thank You NAIS Pudong Community Group

More than 20 NAIS Pudong Community Group volunteers had a special treat on Monday 13th June when our Primary Student Council, assisted by all of the students in Primary and Early Years, put together a morning tea and performances to say a big thank you for all of their hard work for the school this year.

Throughout the year, the Community Group organises many of our big school events, trips and information for new parents, and visits to a local orphanage. The events and other fundraising activities ensure that our school is able to support important local charities such as Shanghai Sunrise and Heart to Heart, as well as providing all of us with a great deal of fun and excitement throughout the year.

With the recent Community Group-organised Summer Fun Day still very fresh in the students’ memories, they came up with many and varied ways to show their thanks. After sending out questionnaires to all of the classes in Primary, asking the students how they would like to show their appreciation, the Student Council put together a programme that included gymnastics displays, musical performances, a poem and, the pièce de resistance, an original song composed especially for the Community Group.

The lunchtime iMovie Club filmed a special video of vox pops, with students sharing their favourite memories of events held throughout the year, while the lunchtime Origami Club, with some help from the other students, made beautiful pink and yellow paper bouquets for each of the volunteers.

Community Group Chairperson, Jody Dexter, said the volunteers were delighted to be given such warm thanks. “It was really lovely to see all of the different acts and all the effort the children had put into the morning,” she said. Jody and the Community Group committee members were also presented with special thank you gifts by Mrs Wallace who praised them for the many hours of work they put into making our school events such a success.

Every single student in Primary also played a part in putting together a huge card which was presented to the Community Group. According to Ms Pam Snow, Student Council Leader, preparing for the morning tea event was beneficial for the students as well as being fun. She said, “It gave all of the children in Primary a deeper understanding of all the great work the Community Group does at our school.”

This is the special poem the children wrote for the occassion:

Community Group we love you

You make our school feel like new

You helped us with the summer fun day

So we can all have fun and play

You are all kind

With a caring mind

With the Christmas fair

Everybody wants to care

We are happy you’re here

So DON’T disappear

You’re so rare

To find anywhere

You’re so cool

Just like our school

We helped us with bonfire night

And made the fire burn bright,

You should be very proud

We all want to cheer very loud

HOORAY!
