  • To read and use a variety of language linked to problem solving
  • To solve problems using the four operations

Topic

Our current topic is ‘Water World’. Water is important to all living things; without water there would be no life on Earth. We use water every day and we depend on water to stay clean and healthy just like the many plants and animals we share our world with.

As Geographers, we will investigate saltwater/marine environments. We will begin the week by asking the children to name examples of both freshwater areas (ponds, rivers and streams etc.) and saltwater environments (oceans and seas). The children will look at the differences between the two and we will discuss the types of living things that might be found in these habitats. We will then use a range of sources to research marine animals and plants; we will focus on coral reefs, open oceans, deep oceans and polar oceans.

BBC nature has videos and photographs exploring wildlife of various marine environments. www.bbc.co.uk/nature/habitats
