English

The main focus this week will be looking at a selection of non-fiction books and identifying the main features. We will use books related to the body as this will link to our Super Humans topic. Our Learning Objectives include:

  • To identify between fiction and non-fiction
  • To sort words into alphabetical order
  • To create a glossary of words
  • To sort information
  • To research information for a body booklet

English homework will be sent home on Wednesday 31st August - the task will involve sorting words into alphabetical order.

Maths

Next week in maths our main focus will be number facts and counting. The Learning Objectives covered will include:

  • To read and write numbers to 100 in numerals and words
  • To count in steps of 3 from 0 both forwards and backwards
  • To learn and recall number bonds to 10, 20 and 100
  • To recall and use addition and subtraction facts

Topic

Next week we will introduce our new topic Super Humans. We will start the topic by asking the children everything they know about the human body.

Can they label the different body parts? What do the different parts do? Why do you think they are important?

For our Entry point the children will complete a Body M.O.T. booklet; the children will look at their fitness level. How many star jumps can they do in 1 minute? What foods do they eat? How many times do they brush their teeth? This information will be recorded and reviewed at the end of the topic. Will there be a difference?
