Pudong Tigers Sports - 19th September – 24th September 2016

School Team Match Reports  (Saturday  10  and Monday 12 September)

Football  –  U9 and U11 playing in the Shanghai International Schools Primary

Chris Lowe

The Under 9’s Blue, but in Black, team had a fun and entertaining morning of football with a win, a draw and two loses. We had an amazing free kick by Will, a brilliant goal by Brian and some truly fantastic saves by Albert. Our defence was secure with the tough tackles of Henry and the interceptions from Lucy. Emily and Gwen provided the running in the middle of the field and helped set up the goals as well as track back and defend. Amos was feeling sick at the start of the day but found his energy in the later games and put in a great hardworking performance. We had a great tournament. Well done!

NAIS PD U11s Blue Division 2 showed tremendous resilience throughout all of their games on Saturday. Cheered on the touchline by their supporters; the Tigers had a fantastic goalkeeper in Charlotte McCoullogh – who despite injuring her finger-bravely carried on.  At the back, we had Conlon, whose long balls forward were controlled by Arthur and Arne. Upfront, the ‘goal machine’ Avnish scored a whopping 5 goals! With our new recruit Bruno winning many important tackles! Elkan, Anish and Daniel N were all excellent in defence! We can’t wait for the next game.

I was very impressed as a coach watching the U9 D1 team play. It wasn’t always an easy tournament but all the children showed tenacity and resilience in each of their matches and I was proud to be their coach. The team went into each match with a smile on their face and it was fantastic to see them beginning to bond as friends and as teammates; I am sure that as the tournaments progress, this will continue to improve. I would like to single out Cameron Watson for his focus and drive playing in defence; you made your team proud, Cameron!
