School Team Match Reports

Saturday 24th September – Shanghai Primary Soccer Developmental League

Our U9 and U11 teams played in the Primary Soccer tournament hosted at NAIS Pudong. It was a great day of soccer with all attending teams playing the game in the right spirit.

Our NAIS Tigers D1 under 9 team found the competition very tough and all the players gave 100% effort but found the opposition too strong. More training together will help. The D2 U9 team performed really well. They drew two games and beat YCIS 3 – 1 to reach the final. They lost the final game by 1 – 0 in a very close game. Well done to all players.

Our NAIS Tigers D1 U11 team played in a really strong league of teams. They lost all of their games by one goal and with more training together I feel they will improve and get the results their ability deserves. The NAIS Tigers D2 teams, who play in the D2 Lions league, and the D2 Dragons League played well and got some good results. The NAIS team in the Lions league won two by 2 – 1  and 1 – 0 but lost you YCIS by 2 – 1 and to Dulwich by 4 – 0 . The team is improving and has had a 100% improvement on their last tournament. The NAIS Tigers team in the D2 Dragon league played well and got some really good results beating Harrow by 5 – 0, beating WCIS team by 3 – 1 and beating a Dulwich team by 1 – 0. They did come up against a strong second Dulwich team that beat them 3 – 0 and they also lost to YCIS 3 – 1. A great improvement and the team is beginning to come together well and hopefully in the next tournament do even better.

I want to thank all the teachers and students who helped to referee on the day. In addition I want to thank Mr. Shackleton, Mr. Lowe, Mr. Lang, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Lowery for their coaching and support for the teams.

Noel Wallace

The D2 Boys lost in a very close game against SMIC. The boys lost the first set 28 to 26 points. They won the second set 25 – 22 and lost the third set 15 – 7. The team did not perform and made many individual and team mistakes. The team will have to train hard in the week leading up to the Cup tournament. They need to have belief and confidence in themselves and then they will be a hard team to beat...

Joanne Parrish

Lapses in concentration affected the overall performance of the D2 Boys.  The first set ended 25 to 12 points to Concordia. The second set saw a fightback with the Tigers deserving more from their performance, losing 25 to 16 points. In the third and final set, the fightback continued with the boys narrowly losing 15 to 12 points. The team know they can play better and have two games left to play and win if they are to reach the cup competition.

Joanne Parish

The D2 Girls played a strong side, losing the three sets: 25 to 11 points, 25 to 14 points and 15 to 7 points. Despite playing well, elementary mistakes resulted in their losing confidence. The team has one game left to show their true skill. If they win this vital game they will reach the cup competition.
