From the Director of Music and the Arts

The start of this term will see our first visit from Juilliard alumni in the form of Ingrid Kapteyn. Ingrid will be here for the entire day on Monday 16th January and will be working with pupils from across the whole school in the field of dance. I am very excited about this visit as it is the next stages of the Juilliard/Nord Anglia collaboration. Ingrid is currently in Shanghai performing in ‘Sleep No More’ which, having seen it in December, is a fantastic immersive theatre production involving modern interpretive dance and drama. Ingrid will also be performing for our Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 pupils, where she will introduce them to different styles of dance and tell them about her life as a professional dancer. The pupils are incredibly excited to meet and work with her during her visit.

This term will also see us rehearsing and performing in the Global Choir, where our choirs will play their own part in what will be a Nord Anglia giant choir with all of our schools involved. Filming and recording for this will take place in February with the final finished piece/recording being produced before the summer holidays.

Finally, Into the Woods rehearsals will start to become more intense with the beginning of our Saturday morning sessions. This is when the work really starts to become more evolved and pupils start to see the set being built and put in place. Saturdays are always hugely rewarding sessions and I thank parents in advance for the effort that they will also put in over the next few months.
