What is the Temple Fair?

With its roots in Buddhist and Taoist tradition, the Temple Fair is one of the highlights of the Spring Festival or Chinese New Year as families and communities gather together to celebrate the new lunar year with performances and cultural activities, plus wonderful seasonal foods.

The 2017 NAIS Pudong Temple Fair will showcase Chinese culture within our school, drawing as well on our broader Shanghai community. Running from 11am until 3pm on 22nd January, there will be a wide range of activities for children of all ages, as well as family and friends.

With over 15 craft and cultural activities on offer, including Kite Making, Porcelain Painting, Rabbit Lantern Making and much more, there really will be something for everyone.

The 2016 Temple Fair was a huge hit for NAIS Pudong family and friends.

Upon entering our specially constructed temple gate, visitors were able to try a range of Chinese crafts and activities and sample Chinese foods while being entertained by a traditional Chinese orchestra from the local Jincai High School, plus our own IB and Community Choirs, CCA Chinese Dancers and Kung Fu CCA.

A highlight of the day were the dragon and lion dancers who twisted and twirled, jumped and spun to the delight of the assembled crowds.

We look forward to seeing everyone again this year for what is sure to be another amazing event.
