In English, the children will write a recount about their holiday experiences. There will be a big focus on punctuation, adjectives and time phrases. We are now starting to get the children to self-assess their work to make sure it makes sense and is sequenced correctly. You can continue to support your children at home by getting them to do this when completing their homework.
In Mathematics, our next topic will explore fractions. The focus will be to recognise, find and name a half as one of two equal parts of an object, shape or quantity. As well as recognising, finding and naming a quarter and four equal parts of an object, shape or quantity.
Key vocabulary: whole, equal, whole, half, halves, quarter, fraction, numerator, denominator
After the holidays, the children will begin a new topic ‘Time Travellers.’ They will explore how filmography has changed and improved over the last 120 years. The children will find out about important people linked to historical events and identify differences between their own lives and those of people who have lived in the past. Please check Class Dojo after the holidays for more information about the entry point.
