Coming up….

School networking event and International Wills talk – Monday 27th February at 6:00pm

St James Place is once again kindly offering their presentation on ‘International Wills’ to our school parents. It will be led by Asa Candussi Wilkins who is a Director of Phoenix Wills. Asa will provide a basic overview on the need for an International Will and the implications to expatriates with children in China who do not already have one in place.

In order to accommodate those parents who work and cannot get to school during the day it will be an evening event starting with Canapes and Wine at 6:00pm, followed by the International Wills presentation provided by St James Place in the HIVE at 6:30pm and then a chance for parents to ask questions and mingle afterward.

If you would like to join us, please reply to the wechat invitation which will be sent this week. Alternatively email Miguel on miguel.lopez@sjpp.asia or The Community Group on: community@naispudong.com

Casual Night Out – Saturday 25th March at 7:30pm

Come and join the Community Group for the second round of our Casual Nights Out. Just as the first event was, this is a very relaxed way for us to catch-up with fellow parents and teachers. All are welcome.

This time we will venture to Puxi to the newly developed and opened ‘Found 158’ on Julu Lu. We start the evening at ‘Hooked’ and ‘El Santo’. These two bars are interconnected which allows for us to move from one to the other easily, enjoying the theme of each bar…..Hooked (the sister to Bull and Claw) serves up fish and chips and poke bowls….and El Santo (the sister of El Luchador) is known for its tacos and tequila.

But possibly the best thing about ‘Found 158’ is Homeslice Pizza which is right next door to the two bars. The team there provide the tastiest handmade pizzas in all of Shanghai. You can sit or stand and enjoy one, or even two, toppings from the delicious menu while having a beer, wine or spirit from their selection. This may be your last stop before heading home.

We will also be organising two buses to transport those who need it to the Julu Lu area. One will leave from School, stopping at the Emerald Compound on the way, and the other will leave from the Jin Qiao area.

Details of this will follow closer to the time. For now, we just want you to put the date in your diary….and, if you get a chance go and visit the ‘Found 158’ area yourself for a quick bite at Homeslice Pizza!

The Week in Review….

Welcome Back Lunch – Wednesday 22nd February

A few of us Mums and Dads experienced a lovely lunch this week at El Willy on The Bund. The food was light and tasty and truly delicious. Best of all though, was the catch up with friends, old and new, and being able to sit down for a couple of hours chatting away.

A huge thank you to Dawn Yearwood and Caroline Beaumont who organised the lunch in their usual efficient way. And a special thanks to those parents who braved the weather and came down to the Bund to join us. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

‘Food for thought’…

Do you enjoy good coffee? Do you enjoy helping people in need? Then you must check out Fu Coffee and become part of this charitable movement.

Fu (福) is Chinese for ‘blessing’ and, as its tag line ‘Coffee. People. Love.’ suggests, that is what Fu Coffee is all about: blessing consumers with the freshest of specialty coffees and blessing the poorest of coffee farmers and at risk people in Shanghai with better education and income opportunities. With its revenue, Fu Coffee supports organisations like Home Sweet Home and Eden, employing graduates from both as well as young people from orphanages and broken families.

Fu Coffee was founded 3 years ago by one of our very own NAIS Dads. Since the humble beginnings, when Eric roasted the first batches of coffee in the family kitchen, Fu Coffee has come aa long way. Today there is a farmers’ cooperative in Yunnan that comprises 22 of the poorest coffee farming families, a processing unit that turns the fresh coffee cherries into specialty grade natural, washed and honey coffee beans, a QS certified roastery where the beans are roasted to perfection, and a trendy café on top of Metro Line 2, Zhongshan Park station (right at Exit #3) called Ping, where you can savor the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and delightful cakes and dessert created by Ping Coffee’s very own chef (he even does amazing Croissants and Baguettes, ask Eric for ways to order).

If you want to learn more about Fu Coffee, how you can get involved, and how you can get the delicious coffee, cakes and breads for your home or office, please give Eric Baden a call or send him a message:

Miguel on miguel.lopez@sjpp.asia or The Community Group on: community@naispudong.com

Hooked (是Bull and Claw的姐妹酒吧) 提供 Fish and Chips 和 poke bowls, El Santo (El Luchador的姐妹酒吧),他们的Tacos和tequila非常出名。
