Into the Woods

Rehearsals have entered the final stage, with a technical lighting rehearsal last weekend and two full run-throughs this week on Tuesday and Wednesday between 3.15-6.30pm. We are all so impressed with how diligently students have worked on this show. It is a challenging musical and the performers need to be focused at all times, with characters appearing and disappearing quickly after their scenes. All have to be on their toes!

Tickets are now SOLD OUT for TUESDAY and THURSDAY, a limited number of seats forWednesday are left. We are also delighted to announce that during this month further Juilliard resources have become available and Into the Woods has been selected as a supplementary material work for Music for Dramatic Production.

Our Juilliard Collaboration

Primary music lessons have been very Juilliard-focussed this term.  Key Stage 1 students studied a Juilliard keyboard programme to improve their skills for future topics. Year 3’s Stravinsky topic is coming to an end with all students thoroughly enjoying the Juilliard Core Work ‘The Rite of Spring’ – watching, analysing, performing and composing various aspects of the ballet and the music. This term, Year 4 has covered the Juilliard topic ‘Music for Ancient Instruments’, focussing primarily on Chinese Music, it’s instruments and traditions. Year 5 have explored different composing techniques through Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and Year 6 have created some excellent African drumming compositions, studying the traditional music of Africa and its different cultural practises surrounding music.
