Important school reminders

School uniform – Students should come to school every day wearing full school uniform. This includes school blazer. Girls should wear black or navy tights or long black socks to the knee if they wish. Whilst moving around school, students should be wearing their blazer. Summer uniform for secondary school students has not yet begun so please continue to wear your blazer

School bags – In order to follow health and safety guidelines, students are not permitted to carry school bags during the school day. Each student is provided with a locker in which they can store their bag. Students should visit their locker at appropriate times in the day to collect books for the lessons that follow.

Mobile phone and devices

In an effort to encourage face to face interaction and improve productivity in lessons we have asked students not to use their phones or other mobile devices around the school, in corridors, at break time, lunchtime and during lessons, unless they have been given permission by a teacher. This request is also intended to discourage students from using the online world of social media, games and the internet as an alternative to real life interactions. We believe that real life interactions are a much healthier and more beneficial to students' development than virtual ones and that it is easy for students to rely too heavily on social media and the online world.

However, phones are not banned and students are not prevented from discreetly checking their phones during the day. If students need to contact home they can easily ask a teacher for permission to use their phone, use an empty classroom or a teacher's office at break time or lunchtime. Teachers are aware of students' need to communicate with their parents regarding transport and other important issues and so permission will be given should the need arise.
