Overview of next week’s learning

We will be starting a new topic next week of famous Fairy Tales. The first one we will read is the Three Billy Goats Gruff. We will discuss many “Why” questions when we talk about the story and try to predict some solutions to problems that arise in the story.

For Maths we will practise ordering 3 goats by size- small, medium and large. We will start talking about number problems in a simple way, for example, when one goat crossed the bridge how many goats were left behind. You can try this at home with dinner time or sweets.

To strengthen our listening skills we have been playing games using loud and soft sounds to predict our movements. Next week we will play “Pied Piper” and the children will each have a turn to lead the children’s movements and noise making.

Please note the additions to our calendar. On the 23rd May children are invited to dress up as a character from a fairy tale. Cinderella, Pinocchio, a Prince or Little Red Riding hood are some suggestions.

On the 1st June we have a Teddy Bear’s picnic when parents are invited to join us at school from 11:00 to 12:00 am for some games and a picnic lunch.

Parents are asked to contribute a small plate of snacks, and school lunch will be picnic foods. More details of this will follow.
