Information and Reminders

Please remember to return your child’s plastic folder at the beginning of each week, so that we can add new activities and information in relation to phonics as required. Thank you.

Drop off – We would greatly appreciate your support with dropping your child off to school between 8.30-8.45am at the latest; this way we can start our morning circle.

Overview of next week’s learning

In literacy the children will continue to practice making simple CVC words with familiar letter sounds. They will also practice hearing an initial sound in words and match them to its corresponding letter shape, as well as practicing letter formation. The children will also begin to makeup stories to our books without words in small groups, once they have made their stories, they will have the opportunity to either create a story map or their own ‘book’ of the story.

In maths the children will also continue to look at shapes in our familiar environment; the children will have the opportunities to write down numbers by counting how many different rectangles, triangles, squares, circles, ovals and semi-circles they see. They will also continue to work on understanding that the total of a group of objects stays the same, no matter how it is divided or separated.

As a result of many of the children beginning to show an interest in bugs and other mini beasts, the children will go on a nature walk and take photographs on the class iPad of any creatures that they see. These photos will then become a talking point for the children to help them show their understanding of the natural world.
