Information and Reminders

Thank you to all parents who attended the Stage and Screen Performance and the Year 1 Exit point. Your support was appreciated with both events.

A reminder that school will be closed on Monday 29th May and Tuesday 30th May.

You should have received information about choosing friendship choices for your child for the next academic year. Please return the completed forms to your child’s class teacher by Wednesday 1st June.

Yearbooks are now available to order. Please complete the slip sent out on Class Dojo or Mailchimp, and return to the Uniform Shop along with the correct amount of money. Please order by Friday 2nd June.

English

In English, the children will continue to follow ‘The Snail and the Whale’ on their journey around the world. They will write their own holiday poems using the five senses and use props to help them think of different adjectives to describe the senses.

Focus: spell words containing each of the 40+ phonemes already taught, use different adjectives for effects, use capital letters, full stops and exclamation marks to demarcate sentences, five senses

 

Mathematics

In Mathematics, the children will revisit reading and recording the time on an analogue clock. They will focus on o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to times. The week will conclude with activitiesfocused on solving word problems related to time.

Key Vocabulary: time, o’clock, half past, quarter past, quarter to, intervals, hour, minute, analogue clock

 

Topic

Next week, the children will receive a postcard from the Snail explaining his recent adventures. The children will create their own postcards. They will use iPads to upload different images of holiday destinations to insert into their own postcards. Each child will focus on a different continent of the world.
