This week we have seen many STEAM activities in action; from hands-on experiential learning in Year 3 with one of our parents who works in the engineering industry to the challenges of go cart making in Year 4 whilst away on their residential. Of course, we also have 4 students and our very own Miss Andrews at MIT itself, championing their skills in the field of STEAM. Live reports coming through really showcase the talents of our students representing our school. Through their various challenges such as; product design activities, presenting to a team of CEOs, pirate training and a tinfoil fencing competition with Makey Makey, the students have excelled in learning how to experiment, create, ask questions. Our 4 students have been outstanding ambassadors for our school. Congratulations Phoebe, Seungwoo, Conlan and Jada.
When Miss Andrews returns we will be hosting a STEAM workshop on Wednesday 17th May, so that you can find out more about what collaborating with MIT means for our students.
Please do make sure you keep a watchful eye over school events and sign up for things taking place. Our IB Academy team host an Introduction to Higher education for students and parents on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm. Our first Donuts with Dads event takes place on Wednesday at 8.30 am in The Hub. On Friday we welcome you to join our new Head of Secondary Mr. Andrew Joy, accompanied by Mr. Barrie Scrymgeour (who is stepping into the role of Head of Primary) and myself to our Talking Heads Session. This literally is a chance to drink coffee and talk with the Heads leading your school, pick our brains, share your thoughts and get to know the team if you don’t know us already.
Be sure to visit Decathlon this weekend, as next week its one of the most exciting events in the calendar, the one you all love, the annual Dads and Kids Campout! Sign up here to save a tent space!!!
