This week has seen some fantastic performances from our youngest students with the Key Stage 2 production of 'Porridge'. Hearing them perform in their Music classes, it is obvious there are very talented Year 3-6 students, and they have only improved through our Juilliard collaboration. Their singing and vocal delivery during both performances were exceptional and I certainly felt they produced a high standard show, well beyond their years.
In Key Stage 3, students have revisited the keyboard and I have been so impressed with their progress from the start of the year. The keyboard is a fundamental instrument that underpins the Juilliard curriculum and all of the activities on the Juilliard Creative Classroom, our online resource. Pupils are now able to perform using both hands and reading two clefs. It is an amazing sight to see them playing and working collaboratively as they strive for the correct notes and rhythms. These skills will build each year, and based on the number of students signing up for extracurricular music lessons, it is having a huge impact on our school.
Over the Summer Mrs. Bailey and I will travel to New York to visit Juilliard for a week of professional development. We look forward to sharing the ideas when we return from what will be an unbelievable experience.
