Deputy Head of Secondary
After graduating from the University of Queensland with a Science degree majoring in Biochemistry and a Teaching degree, Carol worked in a school in Australia for three years, where she was able to develop the core skills of teaching. She then decided she was ready to move abroad and take on the challenge of learning a new curriculum and schooling system and moved to the UK. There she worked in an inner London school where she started as a secondary Science teacher but, within a few months, took on responsibility first for Key Stage 3 Science and later as Head of Science. In these roles, Carol’s aims were to improve student attainment and to develop a curriculum that engaged the students and motivated them to want to study Science further. Her last role in the UK was as an Assistant Head and in this role she was part of a leadership team that transformed a challenging inner city London school into a nationally recognised outstanding institution.
After 10 years of working in London, Carol was ready for the new challenge of working in an international school and, in August 2012, moved to Shanghai and started as the Assistant Head of Secondary at NAIS Pudong. Her time here has been very rewarding and she most likes working in a school with families from all over the world who value different cultures and languages.
Carol is an avid traveller and has been fortunate to visit many countries. Living in Shanghai, she hopes to explore the amazing places in China and nearby that she has heard so much about.
