An Update From The Global Classroom Tanzania Expedition Team

February is slowly approaching and the Tanzania Expedition group can’t wait to go on the most life-changing experience anyone could offer.

The Tanzania trip, hosted by Global Classroom, is an educational trip that has required lots of work, but it’s definitely worth the effort.

The seven of us going have put a massive amount of effort into all our group fundraising initiatives, and we have a current total of 24,290rmb. We are so pleased to have raised this already and we must thank all the volunteers and all parents, teachers and students that have made donations and bought our products.

We would also like to congratulate all the winners of the Christmas card design competition last term. Selling these cards made a massive contribution to our total raised so far.

Our coin collection is still going on in the secondary foyer and we are waiting to find out which is the winning house – so don’t forget to drop off any spare change you have to make sure your house wins!

One of our last fundraising events will be the upcoming Winter Wonderland on Saturday 25 January. We hope everyone will be there to celebrate with us our fantastic achievements!

We have all been preparing for the trip in other ways to. This month’s task is to prepare us to teach students at the Maua primary school. We will have to discuss and co-operate with other students around the world from the Nord Anglia community, to organise and plan their teaching schemes. I think we will find the lack of facilities, resources and technology challenging when we are trying to think of different and effective ways to teach children aging from 7-18 years old.

We are all ready to put in the hard work though and are trying to be as prepared as possible. There is a lot of pressure as the preparation is tough, but we know it will be worth it. The team is also really excited to be going on fabulous trips while in Tanzania, such as going to Zanzibar and learning about the culture and history of Tanzania, or going on an adventurous safari, learning about wildlife and local people.

We are all extremely excited, and appreciate this tremendous opportunity to have a real insight into Africa!
